  • Saving Grace…

    Pope Leo XIV

I recently watched a movie about Pope Leo XIV, “Saving Grace”. There comes a time in many of our walks with the Lord when we wonder… am i doing enough? Am i doing this because it’s what God wants or because i know i can accomplish this? Is this all there is? Where are the miracles that are said to follow? How is this serving? So many questions and doubts. Our faith waivers.

I have been wrestling with many things. How long do i continue with those that seem to not want to change. They talk about wanting to get closer to God, return to the church, but make no moves to do so. And prayer… “pray without ceasing”. How exactly do we accomplish that?

Then there is the directive to “know no man after the flesh”. At first blush that seems obvious but i feel like what it’s really saying is to not listen to their problems. Don’t let them moan and groan about their struggles to you with the expectation that you are there to commiserate with them or tell them what to do about those problems.

When i was coming up, no matter what i sought out the Pastor to ask, his first response was, “have you prayed about it”? Thus he taught me to prayer about EVERYTHING. (An entire subject in and of itself.)

I am saved by grace ALONE not by works so I cant boast that I’m special because i did this or that and earned my way in. The whole point of his sacrifice was to redeem us from sin.

Grace means unmerited favor. We do not do anything to gain his favor. We are his children and like most parents, as children we cant do anything to make our father love us more. He just does.

Don’t throw away your joy in the Lord by doubting. Just be still and know.

  • Welcome!

This site was actually started over a year ago when I chose the name. I didnt start posting until a bit more than a year later. I had been living with my dad and taking classes and it all became too much and needed ALL my attention.

When I did start posting (dad moved back to CA), i knew I would be moving soon but had started to feel the overwhelming “need” to share my thoughts with you. Well, I’m all moved now, not entirely unpacked and settled but for the most part (important bit is done). The computer and internet are up and running! I still need to find some of my reference books so writing might be slow for a bit but….

WELCOME to the communi(ty)cation. I am seeking to build a like minded community. I’m not here to rebuild the world in a smaller space. There is no room here for “wars and rumors of wars”. Think more “family compound.”

Community is all about communication. And communication is a two way street. Not only do i want to share my thoughts and dreams, I want to hear from you.

    Come let us reason together

  • Momisims

Is there a saying that your mom uses chronically?

My mom’s is, “it is what it is.” To me, it is the greatest of all wisdom.

When young girls ask me what would be my greatest advice i always say that people are the way they are. You’re not going to change them. The sooner you accept this fact, the quicker you can move on. The one thing I have learned is that if someone wants to change, they will. Your endless encouragement does nothing but attach you to them and drain your energies.

So…it’s like the Serenity Prayer. Have you ever heard of it?

God, grant me serenity to accept the things I can not change. The courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

“Life is the way it is. With this one, there is a choice. You have to decide, are you going to accept it or try to change it. Remember, you can only change your life. If you want it changed, it is up to you to change it. If someone else is making the changes to your life, then you have given it up.

    Think about that.

  • The Commission

“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:1-5

  • Walk in Faith…

    Daily writing prompt
How often do you walk or run?

Whether you walk or run, do it with purpose. The Bible teaches us to “walk in the Spirit” (Gal 5 16) and to “run with a purpose.” And exhorts us to not stop. Gal 5:7-10

I walk everyday. Some days, not so far; the mailbox and back. Sometimes around the entry circle of the complex while others, i walk the whole complex. Then, other days, I get a bit “wild” and go hike the trails.

Didn’t know you were in a race? One of the New Testament writers said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7) He seemed to think his entire life was a race he was running.

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.”   1 Corinthians 9:24

As for me, i just keep putting one foot in front of the other because one day I hope to fly.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall runand not be wearyand they shall walk, and not faint. Isa 40:31

  • Community

The point of community is to provide us with someone to lean on for the parts that we lack.

Hope is the ability to look to the future, knowing there is something to aim for.

    Community gets us there.

  • Jesus Plus the Twelve

Jesus is from the line of David; the tribe of Judah. He chose 12 disciples. The thinking was one from each tribe. Except Luke was a Gentile and Judus betrayed him.

Any thoughts? Do you know which tribe each disciples were from? Please, help me fill in the gaps.

  • Silence

When there is nothing to say.

Imagine a child born deaf, a child so afraid due to the threats at home that they are silent at school, or a child that has talked and talked and talked and no one has listened so stops talking.

    Can you feel the silence?

The Bible says, … there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. Rev 8:1

I think this silence is just from the Awesomeness of it all.

Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.

    1 Cor. 2:9

  • Follow me….

    as I follow Christ.

    Daily writing prompt
Do you see yourself as a leader?

I wasn’t called to lead. I was called to follow. As a Christian you’re not meant to follow another Christian. Follow Christ. Only. If i deviate from following Him, walk away. “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”

  • Faith

    Daily writing prompt
    What’s your favorite word?

My mom would say “shit” is my favorite word. I know its my go to frustration word because it is usually the perfect definition of where i find myself too often. And, usually, deep in it.

I would say my favorite word is “faith”. Every day, after every “shit storm”, there has to remain faith that there is another chance of things becoming different. Without it we would never have the hope in the future to pick ourselves up, dust off, and take the next step.
